I am battling a hair algea problem and I am at my last straw...   I have done everything...
    - More Water Changes
    - Cleaning it off the rocks
    - Foxface (Does touch it)
    - Hermits (doesn't do enough)
    - Lawnmower Blenny (Eats the very small stuff)
    - Phosban Reactor (No Change)
    - Less Feedings
    - Change Lighting Schedule
I have heard that the sea hair is great and will do such a great job that it eats everything and runs out of
food.... thus when you have all of the algea gone you need to give it to someone else or try feeding it something
    else.
Anyone Have one????   Please HELP  [IMG]  Thanks

Have you tried an emerald crab? I dropped one in my 10g that had a TON of hair algae on one of the larger rocks and he stripped it within days.

I tried Emeralds and some did eat a lot of hair alge, but they also become more meat eaters as they age.  Mine are, and I haven't seen them eat algae in 6 months.

I had the same problem.  I'm not big into dumping storebought chemicals into my tank so I tried a whole list also.  I had the same problems with the same species you're listing.  I didn't get  to the lawnmower blenny because I found Mexican Turbo Snails.  They as big as a golf ball, which surprised me, but they eat anything.
Here's my old thread from last year.
