If you guys hate it so much, I'll gladly yet you take over and switch it over to whatever you like. You can figure out how to seemlessly move all 1500+ user accounts and 100K+ messages.

This is all not meant to offend. People are definitely having issues with posting pictures. It is just a mystery to me why it happens. For instance, today, I was able to make it work just fine, but Zoafreak seems to be having problems with every post and I am not sure why.

Kyle and I seem to be the ones helping people to fix their posts and Kyle is working on an instructional set of how to post pictures, because there are many ways to do it, and it's easy for new users to get confused. But for us to be able to do help people, we have to find a way to make it work for us, consistently.

I know that you are busy outside of everything you do here and I respect that and respect that you have done so much to help, so don't get us wrong. We're just trying to figure this out

Posting pictures is super easy if you use the tools provide and you don't make assumptions about it working like other forums.

    1) Don't use the quick reply.
    2) Use the Insert Image button provided on the toolbar.
    3) Paste in the direct link/url of the image (not a bunch of extra html provided by photobucket or some other site).

If you follow those 3 simple steps, it will work every time.

This forum software uses a WYSIWIG editor. That complicates things on the back end when it comes to pasting/parsing 3rd party HTML code. I didn't build/design it. If I did, I would have done it much differently so that these things are not issues but that ship has sailed.

If I was starting over from scratch, I would choose a different CMS and a different forum package, but all those awesome forum packages that exist today weren't really any better when we started this site over 6 years ago. DotNetNuke is an excellent CMS, but unfortunately the forum modules for it have fallen way, way behind. I've tried to do some work on it myself, but the source code is a giant mess and it's very hard to make any real progress on it.

Thanks JB, I appreciate the advice. I also found that using the insert image button via the WYSIWYG editor did seems to work well, even with the HTML.

I think one of the issues was that Photobucket automatically adds the HTML href language (linking back to their site) into their HTML code link when you do not have a paid subscription. This happens even if you turn their "Link Back Option" off. I discovered this when Nik showed me his account and I compared the function to mine. It seems though that the insert image button field for pasting this into strips the bad code away and it then works.

This is what we need, not everyone knows these things so it is a constant battle for people to get pictures posted. I think a good instructional guide will help out immensly.

How about a proper proedure for posting links so they are active and you can just click on them. That's another one I seem to struggle with and it seems sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.

Linking is no different than adding images.

    1) Don't use Quick Reply
    2) Use the link button on the toolbar.

The editor will attempt to automatically create hyperlinks is it sees a valid URL, but it's not guaranteed to work. If you use the tools on the toolbar, it will work

Maybe I'm just not paying close enough attention to how I am doing it. I swear in the past used the toolbar options and it didn't work. But of coarse now when I try it works every time LOL.
Did we get the toolbar showing up in every forum, every time? I know some time ago I posted about it not showing up in the regional section, but that seems to be better now.

In another thread I posted pics of the buttons to push, and the toolbar that should be seen.

Just checked IE, and I didn't have the toolbars either. Hell I couldn't even make a post using IE.

    Google chrome FTW. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif
