With my boys getting bigger and helping out in the tank more I'd like to pick up a grouding probe to help avoid any shocking accidents. I didn't know if any of the local shops would have one and what the pricing would be. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jason

I didn't even think of looking locally.[IMG] Well I guess I asked at the electrical suppy house my part time boss gets all his stuff from. They didn't know what I was talking about. So I ordered them from big als online $14.99.

Ive seen a couple different kinds some plug into the outlet and some just have a connector that hooks up to the outlet cover screw, which i dont feel is really all that grounded. I would look for the type that plugs into the outlet. I ordered one from dfs and it was the cover screw one so look elsewhere.

Can't you make one of these for like $1 from stuff at Lowes?

    No don't try to DIY!!!!

    1. I don't think Lowes has a titanium prob laying around, or a high grade stainless steel one either.

    2. You are putting a plug that you are plugging into an wall outlet into water, so unless you are 110% sure you know what you are doing DON'T DO IT!!

    3. They are like $15, Just order one from Marine Depot.com. http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewI...ndor~.html
    Hope this helps.

It's just a piece of metal, preferably corrosion resistant, plugged into the grounding hole of an electrical socket. I think as long as you don't stick it in the sockets that actually supply current, you'll be ok. Buying one is probably smarter though :)
Here's a decent DIY.  Never thought of using a bicycle spoke!
