I've got a home made canopy just sitting on my newly empty tank.  It's quit sturdy.  I fitted it with a high output, four bulb, T5 retro kit with an IceCap 660-total output is 340 watts.  Waterproofed the inside of the canopy, the outside is painted black with nickel-silver hardware.
I live in Des Moines. I can sell it for $200 if you come and pick it up or $230 for me to head your direction.  Let me know if you're interested.
