    Hey guys,

I'm new here, I just posted for the first time in the introductions area. I'm setting up my first reef, a 20 gallon, and I'm looking for a 20 gallon tall to use as a sump. There's nothing on craigslist at the moment (I'm in Iowa City), and store prices are way too high for me (I'm a stereotypical broke college kid hah). I'm also looking for a 20 gallon long (or even something slightly bigger - up to 25 gallons but still shallow - if anyone has something like that sitting around) for my girlfriend's goldfish - they've gotten quite large and they're both stuck in a 10 gallon right now and desperately need something larger.

Anyway, I'm going to keep checking on Craigslist and pricing things out in Iowa City - there's a sale on 20 gallon longs at Petsmart, but I'd prefer not to drive all the way to Cedar Rapids to get one for $30. If anyone is interested in getting rid of a tank they're not using, I'd really appreciate it if you let me know.

    Thanks a lot,

    Kevin

I have an up and running 20 tall fowlr with a pair of maroon clowns I would sell for the right price, 50 to 60 lbs of live rock to go with, power head and protein skimmer.

Thanks both of you. I think the $1/gallon sale ended a few days ago, I caught it too late. Fortunately I got an offer for both tanks already from The Basement Bay who gave me a really good price and offered to drop them off for me on Monday in Iowa City. I still am potentially in the market for some good quality base rock/sand and a skimmer appropriate for a 40 gallon system.

Also, if anyone has any good ideas/sources for making a DIY skimmer (that actually works) cheaply, or a DIY ATO system I'd really appreciate that. I've found several sites that have instructions on how to make both, but just wondering if anyone has any experience with something that has worked particularly well.

As far as the skimmer no clue but you can do the ato as a gravity type system with a 10 dollar float from brs . As far as rock I can bring u some of that 1.5 per lb it is Marco rock with stuff starting to grow on it . Thanks

Thanks, I'll look into the ato. I'd definitely like some rock too, probably around 20 lbs. I'll text you about it.
