what is your nitrate level and how much do you feed? Do you have a TDS meter to check your ro unit output?

SO more info would help like how long are you running your lights? What is your water temp? And when you say "RO" water do you mean RO/DI or just regular RO water?

Run some GFO in a reactor and get a clean/up crew. I would also add a DI stage to your RO as soon as you can.

how long has this tank been set up for? Could it be running throw a cycle? Have you checked your phosphates? DI would help get you TDS to 0. You might want to cut back feeding to every other day in til you find the problem, don't want to be fueling the fire, if you know what I mean. You could also add a few turbo snails to help keep the hair algae under control.

your phosphates may be reading 0 since it is all locked up in the hair algae.

Just a fyi GFO does not work very well in a bag in a chamber if you have a Biocube or something like that. It has to be slowly tumbling through the water, and being ran through the GFO. If you just have GFO soaking in water it will be worthless, definatlly get Chemi-pure if you do not want a reactor, or get a reactor. Personally if you have Hair algea, there is something else that is causing a problem, GFO is something that helps, but don't use it to bandage something else.

You can get an add on DI for not much money and they are easy to install. The resin lasts quite a while as long as your ro unit is working right. Do you have a tds meter? You can get a small hand held one for about 20 bucks. Do you rinse your frozen food before feeding? Frozen binders have a lot of phosphates. Sounds to me like you could back down on the feeding a bit.

Just my opinion. But I think you tank is still pretty new, when my 29 was that new it still had a few problems like your having. I think with adding a DI to your RO, and slowing down your feeding. You should be fine, just make sure to watch your parameters for a while to make sure nothing is getting out of wack.

What phosphate test kit are you using?? Really no such thing as 0 phosphate, but many test kits only go down to 1 for non-reef applications. For reef tanks you need to be below .05.
I am assuming you have a TDS meter since you said you water is 10ppm. This is a problem as well so get a DI add-on from Air Water and Ice or Bulk Reef Supply. Reef water should be 0 tds always.
Troy is also right, new tank = algae problems for awhile so nothing really to worry about. But the above things are necessary anyway for a successful reef tank. LPS can be kept at higher phosphate levels IMO but SPS won't like it.

api test kit i did order di and a going to make it my last fillter thay said let it be the very last after the membrane so the resin dont get exhausted so fast it will last longer
