What were your favorite regional meetings?

    Hey everyone,
    If you've attended some of the regional meetings that your local trustees have put on, I would love to know which was your favorite and why.  I'm trying to put together some information on some of these topics to make future meetings easier for the local trustees and if I know which ones everyone liked the best, that will give me a starting point to work from.  So I know DIY Food meeting is going to be the first one that everyone throws out so I'll just start the list with that one.  As people mention new topics, I'll modify this post and update the list.  What else?
    GIRS Members Favorite Meeting Topics
    DIY Food - Recipie - Tips on making it (i.e. sizes to chop things, amount to package, etc)
    Working with Acrylic - Tips on cutting, types of glue, blades and bits to use, etc.

    Nobody has a favorite? Ay, caramba! OK, I'll throw one more out there. The year before last, we had a great meeting in B-Rad's garage where we learned tips on working with acrylic. Cutting it, types of glue, etc. Come on...someone join me and throw out your favorite regional event that you went to! Pretty please?! :)

    I think fragging demos are really useful for newer people like me. Until you've had a stable tank for one plus years you never really get the oportunity to frag anything.

    I thnk the food making one at Joe's (flyingmoray) house last year was my favorite of the Des Moines area meetings... I would also be interested in a fragging demo but haven't attended one.

    We only had 3 in our area since i have been a member but. One that stands out is the one we had at AE and at the end Adam offered us 15% off any purchase. That said, Maybe we can get our LFS more involved in a discussion having them talk about their setups and maintenance of their tanks and such.

    I've never been to a meeting, but the DIY food would be very useful for me. I don't have a good idea of the level of experience of the group as a whole. Maybe there should be topics for newbies, mid-level, and expert level members at the same meeting. Everyone could participate in the learning/sharing at each level.
