What is this purple stuff?

    I was doing some research on my bluestripe pipefish and came across this picture:

    That purple mossy type stuff sure looks like it'd be great for copepods to hide/reproduce in.  And it looks kinda cool.  Anyone know what it is so I can do some research on it?

    My best guess is red algae - just doesn't look like any red algae I've ever seen.

    That link says that micro algae is Gracilaria and that does look like it.  Cool! I think my mystery is solved. Thanks!
