I just got a bio 29 and of course I want to ditch the crap pc lighting. I was think about retro fitting this into the hood http://cgi.ebay.com/225-Blue-WHITE-...335b0d0265
All that would be in the tank is my black clowns and there carpet nem and maybe a few zoas. So do you guys think this would work well?
    Thanks

You typically get what you pay for, right? These are standard LEDs and not the more powerful 3W LEDs that are appropriate for use for aquarium lighting. That being said, without having something to measure the light coming off of it, it's a crapshoot You really don't know if it's going to do OK or not. Your clowns would obviously be OK, but the zoas and carpet may not. There's lots of LEDs talked about over on NanoReefs. I would read up on them over there before moving forward. Now, as long as you know the risks going into it and are willing to accept them, I say go for it. A little experimentation is good for you. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

You could slip off the top of the BC and set that on and see what it looks like. If you do not like it then it would make a great sump light. Shaun

I don't remember the forum but someone ordered one of these to put people's questions to rest. Simply put don't do it unless its fish only. Even then it will probably be lacking and not giving your fish the light they deserve to flaunt their looks.

You seem to know the most about this subject as far as our club goes so can you advise a led set-up that would work for this that isn't insanely expensive?

What you want to trade? If so I would probably do that.
