I am looking into purchasing a wavemaker system for my 38 gallon reef tank. I have been looking at Hydor's system that uses Koralias. I have also looked into Eco Techs smallest Vortech pump for its smaller in tank footprint. A possible drawback that I see with this system is I won't get the back and forth movement like I would with a system that has two opposing pumps. I am really just looking for recommendations, thoughts, and advice. Thanks![IMG]

I had the Hydor's and didn't like it. I used it for 4 months and personally think it's over priced. Were you looking at the mp 10's? I think for a 38 you'd only need 1.

Thanks for responding. What didn't you like about the Hydor model? I have been using Koralias and like them as I haven't had any issues with them. I would probably go with an mp10, but am hesitant because the flow in my tank would be fairly one sided even though it would be variable.

I would go with the mp10. You can adjust the flow rate and pick different flow patterns... They are a little expensive, but well worth it.. I love mine and will use them when I get another tank

I had the box with 4 1's hooked up. Too many Wires. The control box took up alot of room under my 90 gallon tank. MP 10 to my understanding much smaller controller.

Vortech all the way man. They're pretty pricey initially, but you'll be happy with it. And even with just one, you'll get the "sway" you're looking for no problem. On top of that, they clean up the look inside the tank.

I love my MP-40 on my 90 gallon. I still like having it over everything else I have owned. It is is better with multiple units, but you still can get the wave motion really nice with one unit.
