Hey guys what is the best temp for coral?  Right no my temp is 73 and I have read 72-80 is safe.  Do corals like it warmer?

76-83, generally I run to cooler in the summer (power failures generating heat) and in winter keep it towards the high side(again power failures which precede cooling). Yes there is a wide variance at which you can keep your tank. Here's a good read about temps and what not:

Anywhere in that range is ok. Higher temp equals faster metabolism, faster growth, faster problems.

Main key is stability. If you start fluctuating your temps 4-5 degrees a day, it will lead to big problems

Your lucky man, I would love to keep my house a 70 but my electric bill would be 600$ a month. I need to update my AC unit outside and put new windows in my house. We keep ours around 76 but my tank still likes to stay 3-4 degrees warmer so I keep an open top and a fan blowing on the surface.

I disagree, 3 Degrees is not a real problem that I see. I can't fathom the temperature swings they may get in wild through out the day. I have read in the ball part of 5 degrees in some places.  75.8 is the coolest I have seen it right after a water Change, but most of the time its 77 to 79 degrees witch I think is best for most corals according to all the reading I have done. 78 degrees is a good temp.
    I like this reference:
