water flowand movement

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by joshua.jebe, Jan 21, 2013.

  1. so i have been slowly increasing the flow in our 75 gal tank and was wandering if there was a point where you can have to much flow. my skimmer is liking it as i have picked up more discharge skimmate. there is no visable eddies in the tank and the turbulence at the surface is interesting to watch almost like a mini tornado sometimes that moves around the sueface, does wonders for light deflection from the halides.

figured i would pick a few brains here and go from there.

i have heard everyone advocate for more flow but was wondering where the line is if there is one..

    info i have

quiet one 4000 return pump pointing across diagnoaly across the tank right to left front corner, maxijet 1200(upgraded) pointing down front glass of tank right yo left 6"below the surface

left side has 2 maxijet 900 (upgraded) pointing at cross corners( intersecting in the center) 8" below water surface

i get random movements of argonite and sand moving across the front to the extent that i had a duncan on a frag plug and had to move it to a rock hole because it was undermined and fell over.
