Views On Reef Octopus BH 100

    So looking into another protein skimmer and came across the Octopus skimmer, looks just like the bak pak and was wondering if it is pretty much the same thing? Has any one had experience with this skimmer?

    I have been running an octopus for a couple weeks now. Not sure on the model , picked it up off of craigslist and it has been working like a champ! I'm new to the SW game but I'm happy with mine so far.

    my first tank I had the octo bh 1000. I must say this thing was did a fantastic job, easy to empty collection cup. easy to clean. and really quiet

    Octopus skimmers RULE!!!!! that model is designed much like the CPR Bak-pak skimmer (which is a tried and true favorite among many, esp nano reefers) but even better the bh1000 has an ocean runner pump that's much larger than the bak-pak skimmer. go for it!

    Well I might just have to give this one a try is everyone has had success with it, and its pretty much the same price. I'm looking at the one on aquacave.com and I have never ordered from them, is this a good site to go with or is there someone else? I'm a petsolutions kind of person.

    Thanks Mthomp, ill check that site out. I for got to ask can you get a surface skimmer box for this, can't find one right now. Or do you have to make something?

    I have the Octopus BH1000  it is a hang on back with the pump on the outside.  It does a great job and I am very happy with it. It looks great, is easy to clean, fits on the back of my JBJ 28g nano HQI and will not heat up the tank because the pump is on the outside.

    I had one several years ago and my only complaint with it was it was kinda big. The input and output were somewhat intrusive in the tank. Otherwise it skimmed great . Customer support from Coralvue is also top notch.

    I run the BH100F on my 40 gal and am very happy with it. Never had a problem with it at all. I have nothing to compare it to as far as quality, but I did do quite a bit of research before buying it and most of what I found was very good reviews.

    I picked one up from craig (Xroad) and could not be happier
    This thing pulls a substantial ammountn of nastieness out of my tank pretty regularly.
    I am actually fairly impressed with all of the reef octopus stuff I have seen and/or used.

    I bought mine from aquacave and its the dual back pak. Have not had any problems and it works great. It does take up alot of room. But I would go for it for the price.
