So far all is good Im loving my new leds.  Thanks for helping me to choose them.  I like the timer and different setting but have a question.  I really like having the 2 blues on full with this you see amazing colors!!  When I do this I keep the whites at 60.  I know I was told to start low and I did with the white but I like the blues.  Anyone have any imput?  Thanks.

So you are currently running 60 white, 100 blue, 100 royal blue?

If so, that is probably far too high depending on what light you were switching from. Most people start at 35 % power and move it up 5% a week until they are at the desired level.

I think you would be surprised at how much light these put out. just take your time and let your corals talk to you on what they need.

Maybe not to the eye, but they are more powerful i would say. Just keep an eye on your corals and if they start to react poorly drop the power down.

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone reaching the 100% mark. Or come very close. The par levels are way high on these junits and its easy for it to deceive you by its visual intensity

I run mine with everything at 100%. I was running 3 units over my 250. Never bleached anything or had problems. I added a 4th unit yesterday so I will have to watch everything again.
I should borrow a par meter sometime and see what kind of readings I am getting around the tank.

rgreene when you start off what is your timer set at? Im starting very low at 1pm and ending at midnight. I sit by my aquarium from 7pm til midnight is why. I have it peaked for 4 hours.

mine hit a max of 70-75-85 at 3:00 I've had them since november, when I first started out i set them to around 60 and the only thing that bleached was my chrismas favia but he's fine now. I backed em down to around 40-50ish range then gradually increased them. If you want a good pop turn the royal blues up higher than the other two. The regualar blue kinda makes the water look like a bottle of windex haha. A good start would be 40-50-65 at your max. I like to set my ramp time to 30min so the lights gradually get brighter/dim. You can turn them up by 5% each week and hit the max you want after a month or so. Take it slower at first cuz once a coral bleaches it takes quite a while for it to recover( a lot longer than it takes to acclimate them to the light). Just my two cents, good luck and welcome to the AI club :)

Andy stopped over a few days ago, we my fish trap, and the par meter to get a quick reading. At 35% across the board I was reading 100 at the sand, 200 mid tank, and 400 at the surface. We cranked it up I believe around 90% and it was 225 425 and over 1000 at 3 inches below the water lol. These lights kick it hard! Tank is 24" deep

I follow the lunar cycle according to my apex. So my lights come on and off at different times everyday. I want it to mimic a natural reef environment as much as possible. I LOVE this feature, and of course there is an occasional thunderstorm and some clouds every once in a while! The fish and corals LOVE IT
I have 4 profiles for each color LED. Sunrise midday sunset and lunar. Ramp up times for sunrise are 2 hours, ramp down is two hours for sunset, and ramp up for lunar is 15 min, with blues at 3 %.

I'm gonna be picking up my VDM module for my apex this weekend I'm pumped to run them through my Apex. Right now I'm using the AI controller is there any major difference between the two?
