I have a "broken" umbrella leather.  I screwed up and tried to rubber band it to rock because it came off the original rock.  i think the rubber band was too tight and it ended up cutting the leather.  Part of it came off and now the other piece is hanging by a thread and the stalk is exposed.
My question is will it grow out from the stalk or should i take it out of the tank?

I would take off the loose piece and the other part and re-attach them to other pieces of rock. The stalk should regrow.

Both pieces should be fine. I use the rubber bands too and work fine. I would just redo it and make sure they are in very little flow intil they attach good.
