    A business near Riverside, Iowa is remodeling and looking for new homes for it’s marine aquariums. It will donate them if they are going to a school or senior center. OR: The business will sell to individual buyers for a negotiated price.
    The two 250 gallon, bowfront, acrylic tanks are up and running now. They hope to move them off premises by April or May. You must visit and talk with manager on site before sale is made, or ownership is transferred. Included: tanks, 30 gallon sumps(one each), lights, filter, heaters and all associated equipment. some coral and/or live rock. The fish have been promised to an employee. The business will breakdown tanks and equipment, and meet the new owner at the entrance and help load into new owners truck.
    Both tanks were originally set up by professional aquarium company. contact me if you are interested. I’m Secretary of the Eastern Iowa Aquarium Association. I'm trying to help them find a new home for their aquariums. Sorry I don't have any photos.

    Anybody know of any schools or senior centers in Iowa that want a free 250g acrylic aquarium setup!?? That's a heckuva deal!!

    What about any VA centers? Is that something they would consider also?

    I'm sure that if someone could find a home for one or both of these, and it goes towards a good cause, we could round up some people to help move them. Wherever they go, I think they would have to agree to maintain them, this is where a school would be a good place possibly.

    This makes me think of this project at a Montessori school

    Thank you, Bud ! I also posted in the Eastern Iowa Aquarium Association FaceBook group. These tanks are in the Casino in Riverside. Anyone interested must call ahead and make an appointment with the manager to get a behind the scenes tour of the tank.

    I have his contact information. He works there 8-5 Monday thru Friday.

    Owner prefers to donate to a school , senior center, or Veterans organization, but will entertain negotiated offers for sale to individuals at a fair price. Read the entire post . No price is set in stone yet. You need to set up an appointment to talk with owner at the casino for a tour and a chat before he will sell to you.
    He works 8-5. Monday through Friday. I can private message his phone # to you.

    I was thinking Kirk at Central Campus. I don't think Boone has room. She also had some empty tanks when i was there last. Assisted-living facilities, nursing homes and possibly a Children's unit/hospital, Ronald McDonald are other options. Science/Biology departments at DMac, etc besides high schools too. Maybe Kirk or the freshwater club would have leads also.? I would think how large and continued growth the Des Moines area/Ankeny, etc area is having that it could be utilized for a great cause. A few phone calls could be all that's needed besides the move and transporting.

    @Marti VA@Marti VA I've just seen some posts on Facebook that the casino is now doing a silent auction of these tanks and then they are donating the proceeds to the Iowa City Roller Derby Team?

    Yes I have bought them from the casino and I will be doing a silent auction for the tanks. All money will be donated to the JR roller derby team. They are call the I.C. Bruisers. This team make it free for kids to join. They r the only free team out of all the team in the United States. They have 77 kids on the 3 teams they have. On average it cost 550 dollar per kid to get all there gear. The auction will be held sometime in April as that’s when I will be getting them from the casino

    Six people interested in the tanks from Riverside contacted me by PM. My only role in this was to advertise to interested parties. I posted on the EIAA FaceBook Page and on GIRS forum. I gave those six people contact info for the seller at the casino. The seller told me he had enough people interested, so I have stepped away from the transaction. That is all that I know.
