Just wondering if anyone has tried using the Aqualifter pump with the ATO instead of Tunze's pump?  If yes, could you tell me "how" you did it?  Thanks in advance!/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif

I have a Tunze as well. Can I ask why you would want to use the aqualifter vs. the tunze pump? What's your evaporation rate per day?

I go through about 7g a week on my display but my 40B, I don't know yet. I just am not thrilled with the pump...less than a year for the display tank and have had to replace it. Now I'm having problems with the 40B's pump ... it keeps dripping, like there's a syphon but there isn't. The unit isn't sensing the water level either...I think I got a lemon with this one /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/sad.gif

You need to contact Roger Vitko at the reef central Tunze forum. He'll get you fixed up.

I use a little Aqualifter with my ATO.  I have a basement sump tho so it's pretty easy to set anything up. I run tubing straight from my rubbermaid that is holding my RO water, and then into the sump. I think it's pretty maxed out as far as headroom, but it works./DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif

I use a aqua-lifter with two float switches. One is placed in my sump and one in a 5 gal bucket set beside my Tank. I fill up the bucket and let the lifter put the R/O water in as the float calls for it in the sump. If I forget to fill the R/O bucket up with water then the float in the bucket will deactivate the other float from doing anything. I don't even worry about the evaporation anymore and its the best thing I ever did. My current system is a DIY and I put it on here http://www.greateriowareefsociety.org/Community/DiscussionForums/tabid/78/aft/26381/Default.aspx

I am working on a low voltage version only because I want to ad a buzzer and a LED light to come on with the pump and put a pump bypass button on the system to push when I want to manually activate the pump to run water in. I will add this to my DIY when I have it up and running.

This system coast me little to nothing and some fun building it myself.

You are better off with the Tunze pump for the system. Aqua Lifters will generally stop working or wear out after 12-18 months.

Hey everyone, thanks for the responses. The pump isn't dripping anymore...YAY! I have been in contact with Roger and he's given me several suggestions about what to do with the sensor...I'm " hopeful " that it's working now.

One last question, does anyone use the Tunze pump with Kalk in their topoff water?  I'm wondering if Kalk will quickly foul the pump?
