I found this guy in my tank several months back and while it freaked me out at first, I found out he is totally harmless.  He has gotten pretty large and I know which rock he lives in and I don't bother it.  I don't have any current pictures (he only comes out at night) but here are a few that my husband took when we first discovered and stalked him!

From what I read they like coraline but I never really see big patches missing or anything.  He does not like a flashlight though.

Yup it's a chiton (look up under the pix.)   I'm guessing about 4 inches long from what I see under the rock.

Never said I could read... LOL My neighbor had one about that side that was green. They named it Shrek and it never bothered anything.

I've got quite a few of those in my tank. You should reach in the tank and feel it... Heavily armored little bugger

How long are yours Covey?  I try and check out this guy with a flashlight all of the time (after light's out) and it seems to me that he's at least 4 " long.

1-2" I have quite few they come out during the day now too. I think it had something to do with not having any wrasse or angels any more.

If I see mine I will try to get macro shot of it

Cool!  Yours are a bit different than mine but I can see that they are similar in that "armor".
