My tank has been set up for over 2 years with no problems, I have used 2 hand on the tank filters, yesterday I bought a Fluval canister filter, I hooked up filter today, do you think i should be able to take old filters right out? the tank is 2 years old didnt know if taking away bio wheels would hurt?

You should be fine taking them off now, but it wouldn't hurt keeping them on for a few more weeks until the bacteria starts establishing itself on the new filter. Your rocks/gravel/sand/aquariam walls & any other surface area should have enough bacteria established already to avoid any cycles. If you want to be extra careful, you could start removing one piece of the filters at a time (filter pads, then 1 biowheel, then a few weeks later the other one). Regardless you should be alright though.
