I have used 1/8" glass in my 10 and 20 gallons previously. I just ordered 1/8" for my new 40 gallon Sump im building. All of my chambers are approx the same height so not a lot of stress being put on the glass.

If you are building the entire sump I would use at least 1/4", 1/8" might be OK if just for the baffles.
