I'm getting ready to build a new sump and thought I would ask for tips and ideas before I spend hours and hours of searching for the best layout. I'm unhappy with my current sump(55 gal), so I'm going to use a 40 breeder to make a nicer sump. I'll be able to drill this tank, unlike the 55 gallon. I tried to make an algae tumbler, but could not get algae to tumble at all. I've got a ton of acrylic to use, so making baffles for it isn't a problem.
Any suggestions, help, or links would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

When I was in the building process on any of the builds that I did. I always used the Google Sketchup, so I could visually see what I was making before I started. It helped me work out the details, and you could post a pick and get peoples feed back before starting the real thing.
Here the link if you don't have it

What did you think of mine Adam. You can come check it again if your in the area.  It will also give you some ideas  to use for yours to see others in motion.  I think a constant level of water is a most for a skimmer,  so set up baffles for that atleast

You know it Janette! I'm actually working on a few other projects as well, I'm building an enclosure/fixture for the DIY LEDs, a surge device using a toilet flush valve, and messing with two different skimmers.

Troy- Thanks for the link, I forgot about Google Sketchup. I was trying to use another program off the internet that was a lot harder to use. I'll have some free time late tonight, we'll see if I can get a mock-up done.

Larry- I'll take your sump design into consideration, I think I just have different goals of the sump at the moment.
