So far I have had my tank running just over a month now and all inhabitants seem to be doing well. I have 1 Clarkii clown, 1 yellow tail damsel, and 1 small 6 line wrasse. Also in the tank are 3 snails and 4 blue leg hermits. I do love the fish that I have now but have been considering adding one or two more fish and maybe a cleaner shrimp. I am looking for oppinions as to whether or not this would make my tank too crowded. I have been thinking maybe a flame angel or some sort oy pygmy species but worry they may hurt my corals. Gobies and blennys have also caught my eye as possible additions. What do you guys think ? thoughts or suggestions appreciated/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/cool.gif

I wouldnt put anything else in it. Def not an angel if anything maybe a small gobie. Do you check for nitrates? What kind of filters do you run?

I'm assuming your tank has cycled? Hasn't been up very long and you already have it stocked. Does the wrasse bother the snails? They will eat them if they're small enough. I have a 24g tank with 3 fish and a cleaner shrimp + snails. You might be able to get away with another small fish or two, but research anything you might want to add. The wrasse can bully shy fish, especially since its already in the tank and has dibs on tank space where-as a newcomer wouldn't have that advantage. Are you looking for more movement or color or ? in your tank? Try adding something like an anemone (assuming you have the right lighting) after the tank gets a bit more established or a coral or a marine plant. There are a lot of things you can add besides more fish to make a tank look good.

Tank has been up just over a month and has a live sand bed and live rock with a good sized HOB filter. Wrasse hasn't bothered anything he's pretty small and loves to hide in my rock. I had suspected that the angel may not be the favorite for my tank but I do love them. I have t5 light over the tank and my corals seem to be doing well so far. The lights I have are not the most powerful so I am trying to keep corals according to the lighting I have. My corals right now are frogspawn and some zoa's. Since I am in college and have a very modest budget I am trying to keep this tank simple. This is my first time ever trying to create a reef tank and so far its going well. I would love to have an anemone but do not know if my lights are powerful enough. I plan to get a powerhead to provide extra circulation but still would like to have something additional in the tank. I would love to see pics from anyone who has a small reef tank maybe I will find some inspiration.

Let me guess, your college has a 20 gallon limit on aquariums?

Ha ha nope no limit, I used to live in the dorms and there were some kids down the hall who had a 55g which took up about 20% of their overall living space. I have an apartment now with a 45g cichlid tank and this 20g nano reef. I was going to convert the 45g but my girlfriend and I have become somewhat attached to those fish even though they just screw up all their decorations no matter how many times I fix them. I went with the 20g because I plan to move in a little less than 2 years and want to wait to build my dream tank until I purchase a home. The 20 keeps me happy for now and it saves some much needed$$$. I wonder if I got another clarkii if my current fish would accept it as a mate?? That would be awesome!
