Some algae questions

I have an outbreak of an algae in my tank that I think might be bacterial. I get bubbles encrusted with algae rising from the live rock after about 3/4 of my light cycle. I have a lot of light, but I've had a lot of light for over a year with out this problem. I added a small refugium about two months ago, and I also am running GFO.

I'm also getting some LONG single strand algae growing in my tank. I've never seen it before; it can grow a single strand up to ten inches long in a day or so. Comes right off the glass.

My GFO reactor pump got disconnected without my knowledge, so it sat there unaerated for a while. Any connection? I'm planning on a good water change and am going to switch the GFO for carbon for a couple of weeks.

    Any better advice?

I'm having the same exact problem ATM. I accidentally unplugged my GFO/Carbon reactor pump and the water got nasty inside the reactor, when i plugged it back in, it smelled like sulfur. I now have cyano along with the long single strand stuff. I am just gonna keep doing weekly water changes and I think it will eventually take care of itself.

I don't wish you trouble, but it's nice to know what the source probably is. Thanks for the reply!

I'm still fighting it too. Did water changes this weekend, but won't be able to do more until Friday. It's improving, but it's no fun.
