I just purchased an all in one frag tank that I will be turning into a shallow reef... so does anyone know of a decent hob skimmer that will fit a tank that is only 7" deep?

aquaC Remora is a good one for a HOB. I have the urchin in my frag system and it works wonders!

Hey Zach I have a question about your urchin skimmer. I have one in my tank. How low do you put your collection cup? I try to make pretty dry skimmate but I can't seem to find the sweet spot. It's either too dilluted or it won't make any skimmate if I have it set up higher.

I have the urchin standing one, like yours. I run the cup all the way down. However it is running in a 20 long with a really really old maxijet and not in the sump itself. When I was running it in the sump I had the water level at the intake 90 on the spray nozel ( just under the spray hole level) and set the cup about three inches up ( almost all the way out) I produce very very wet skimmate in all my tanks and run water levels very slowly ( probably 3-5 times tank volume flow an hour as apposed to the typical 10x or so.

Do you have a solid foundation for the skimmer, and is the water level pretty constant?
