   My blue hippo tang carries around snail and crabs, I don't know that he eats them or anything, just picks up the shells and drops them someplace else.

   by that logic hermit crabs,snails, and just about anything we put in our tanks can sometimes not be reefsafe.

   I've also read that they will do that as they get older and bigger. But I think for the most part it's with bigger tangs that aren't well fed that will eat corals.
