Looking to Buy For Sale Trade Free/Re-home Scammer

    Admin Note: The following post is being left in tact as an example of how this scammer operates. This scammer watches for posts showing interest in buying something, then they search the potential buyer's posts and profile for a phone number. If they find one, they pose as the seller via text message (not using the forum or facebook - phone to phone). They ask for payment in advance, and as "friends & family" so you have no way to recover the payment. They then ask for extra money to be paid to yet another person to delivery the goods, and insist that also be paid in advance.

    This guy is a scammer. I sent him money via PayPal for his two Angel fish and the next morning he tells me he needs $20 for his Buddy to deliver the fish to me. I refused to give more and he said he would refund but then no response.

    He did the same thing to me this moring so anyone dealing with him becarfull. Would not except no payment but freinds and famly even when i told him i would pay tge difference. Will post text pics if anyone would like and phone# vinmo and pay pal info. Fyi i did not send him anything...

    Again, this issue is being looked into and appears to be a third party scammer

    Looking to Buy - Green sticks and monti cap

    someone (scammer) used that number to pose as the seller and sent you a text. No one's account got hacked.

    I'm unlocking this thread

    It's clear now that someone is targeting forum users that have posted their phone numbers in various locations on the forum that are publicly viewable. They then use this number to pose as the seller.

    @Bcaster28@Bcaster28 is not a scammer, but everyone needs to be aware of this type of scam, how to spot it, and how to prevent it. So I'm leaving this thread in tact, but @Loren Nicholls@Loren Nicholls would it be OK if I added on a few sentences at the top of your first post explaining this?

    Yes go ahead, I have no ill feelings toward any members. I’m okay with deleting my threads now that we know someone is actively targeting our group

    The 551 number is the scammer’s phone number, is that what you’re referring to?
