Sand vs. crushed coral?

What are all the cool kids using these days?  I like bare bottoms but since this is a family tank...the kids and wife think it needs to have sand.  I don't really want the fine sand because I think it will blow around a lot.  What are the benifits of each and where is the best place to get some?

    Sand!

Crushed coral gets to look so nasty & grungy in a short amount of time.

Once your sand has settled, it shouldnt blow around unless you have a power head shooting right on it.

    We carry both at AC&C

+1 on Sand I used cruched coral once and all it did was scratch my glass and looked like crap.

i like the coarse sand, not crushed coral. Doesn't blow around with MP 40's or get thrown around by fish and such. Love the look of the fine sand just not all over my coral and rock work.

i think sand looks a lot better but make sure you do not get really thin sand if you do because it suxs and blows all over but as floyd said they have the spl grad reef sand i never used it but it looks to me like it may be in between sand and crushed coral wish you luck with what ever you chose
