It's been quite a few years but I'm getting back into reef keeping. I'm working on a 75gal display with a 55 gal sump/DSB/Refugium. I'm still in the early stages of building the stand and gathering equipment right now. There have been some changes since I last kept a tank, so I'm trying out some new things, like running a Bean Animal overflow and using a DC pump to power it.
    It's good to be back.

Looks like it is coming along what type of tank are you thinking reef or aggressive? With or with out live rock so?

It will be a reef tank with Live Rock. In the past I've had a mix of LPS and SPS and will probably do the same this time.

    Welcome back!

It's great that we've had so many "Intro/ re-intro" threads the past few weeks.

That sounds awesome I just picked up some dry rocks from Craig at Aquatics and Exotics in Waterloo. This is my favorite part, the building and planning that goes into setting up a reef tank. Good luck to you and I hope you get back in.

Nice rockscaping! Are you planning on using an epoxy to hold them together? Are you going with a bare bottom?

Thanks Quam! I will have sand in the display and I will just be stacking the rock work.

Looking good! Impatience is fine when acquiring hardware...but it's a learned skill once there's water in the tank :)

Nothing good happens fast but mocking up the rock does provide motivation to get the stand done.

How are things coming along DanB? Are we near the water test stage?

It's still a work in progress. Sump/refugium is done, stand is 90% and I will be drilling the display tank tonight. Water testing phase is still a ways out.

You could land a helicopter on that stand. Very solid.

    Looking great!

I will always prefer to have too much support rather than not enough!

Looks great! I guess my only concern would be the lack of lateral bracing. Are you concerned the 12 vertical 2x4's might not handle the load?

    I'm the co-worker :D:roflmao:

That stand will be plenty strong enough for a 75 gallon tank. It would definitely hold more than what you are putting on it.
