I would like to urge everyone to take a look at this nice little feature JB added to the site. I could see this being a very good place to quickly and easily find a lot of very good info on all the "most common" topics we see on the site.

Lets get some more questions rolling and start building up the info. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Yeah, I think the Reefer's Q&A will be both a lot of fun and useful to the club once it gets rolling and people start to gain more privileges (like voting up answers and commenting on answers).

I can tell already that I need to post some guidelines for people using it, but in the mean time, here are some quick hints.

Questions should be phrased as questions. For example, "Return Pump" is not a question. "What is the proper return pump size for a 90G Tank?" or something like that is what you want to put. The better the question, the more likely people are to click into it and and answer.

Non-subjective questions that can actually be answered are best. For example, "What's the best return pump" is a subjective question. There is no correct answer because it's based on opinion.

If you ask a question and someone answers it correctly, be sure to accept the answer. You get rep for that and so do they. If multiple people answer correctly, accept the most complete answer. If they are both equally correct, accept the first one provided.

Don't give purposely bad answers. People will eventually be able to "vote down" bogus answers and if your answer gets voted down, you lose rep.
For now, I don't think it's a bad thing if some people ask questions that they already know the answer too, we need to get people some opportunities to gain rep so they can start commenting and voting.

My question was thrown in there just to get some activity and see how things worked.

As far as subjective and non-subjective questions, the most common questions that come up usually don't just have one correct answer.

Agreed, but unfortunately the system really isn't designed to work well with subjective. If the question is subjective, there really can't be a correct answer to accept.

I guess the solution is to try and accept the most complete and/or well thought out answer.

I noticed that on my topic. I tried selecting more than one answer, but could not. Can that be changed?

Nope, you can only accept one answer. That's just how the software works.
