redoing tank, input welcome

When I setup my 150 I did zero planning on plumbing because they wanted the livestock moved immediately and I was planning on moving the tank when an area of our house got redone. Currently I have 4 koralias in the tank for flow on a smartwave controller and a Panworld external pump. This provides me with about 30x's turnover and I want to get more turnover to transition to SPS and eliminate dead spots in my tank. In reading input from another thread of mine, as well as other research I am looking to upgrade to either Vortech MP40s or 2 Tunze 6095/6105s (and possibly a tunze wavebox). I am also thinking about changing the Panworld for a pump with less flow based on Julian Sprung's recommendation of 3-5x's turnover in the sump.

My priorities for my new pumps are:

    1) I want to do it right the 1st time, and not regret going with the other option within a year.

    2) Promote good health with the corals. (Leaning toward Vortech on this based on threads stating their SPS had tissue recession with Tunze and was eliminated when switching to Vortechs).

    3) Reliability of pumps. (Tunze wins hands down based upon the number of threads talking about getting replacement parts for the Vortech. You don't see these threads in regards to Tunze.)

    4) Noise of pumps as the tank is in the living room. (I don't know what to think of Vortech's noise because 1/2 of people claim they are noisy and the other half say they are fine. A little noise won't bother me, but it can't be too loud. My Koralia's chatter every now and then and I have a fan running over the sump as well.

    5) Undertow created by pumps. (Vortech is well known for the undertow created, which I value due to the nutrient export. Do the Tunze's with the wider shroud get anywhere close to accomplishing the same thing?)

I keep going back and forth on Tunze or Vortech the more I research. Honestly I would go with Vortech if there were not so many threads out there talking about getting parts from customer service when their pump is under warranty or needing to purchase a new wet side. If the Vortech is really noisy it will not fly with my wife. If the Vortech's are somewhat noisy I would setup the pumps to run at a higher % during the day when we are not home and to back down in the evening when we are in the living room. One of the Vortech's would be 2 or 3 feet from our couch.

Regarding your #2 comment. You can't really blame a specific pump manufacturer for tissue recession...If anything, that incident was probably due to having too much flow on one particular coral which isn't the pumps fault, its the placement of the pump & coral.

I think you will probably be happy with either one of those pumps.
