Hey everyone (especially all those DIY'ers out there),
I'm doing some cable management on my stand/canopy right now and one thing that's always been an issue is the cords that go between my stand and canopy.  I have quick disconnects on the cables for the lights and fans, but it's a real PITA to disconnect them all, pull the cords thru the hole in the back of the canopy, etc.  What I would like to do is create some sort of a patch panel that I can use to make all of this easier so I can just disconnect a cable or bundle of cables (can be individual plugs if needed...which I think it would need to be) from the canopy without having to pull all the cables thru and stuff like that.  My vision was basically a junction box of some sort to mount to the top of the canopy, an outlet plate of sorts on the inside of the canopy to plug the lights into, and an outlet plate of sorts to plug the fans into.  Then an outlet plate on the top of the canopy where I can unplug all of the connected cables without having to unplug them inside the canopy.  Run that down to the same type of an outlet plate/junction box inside the stand so I could completely remove the cable that goes in between the stand and the canopy.  Any ideas on connectors/outlets/plugs, etc that I could use for this purpose?  What risks do I run by adding more connections into the circuits (i.e noise on the lines...is this even a concern?)?  I have two low voltage fans and two high voltage lights, and I would like to design it with flexibility for expansion in case I ever wanted to add something like moonlights, more fans, etc.  Get those gears of innovation turning and let me know what ideas you have for me!  Thanks everyone!

I just remembered something else that's probably the biggest challenge of all...my fluorescent lights. That's like a dozen wires or something crazy like that. This is going to be more challenging than I thought. I hope some of you brilliant folks can help me come up with an idea or two...
