So, my mag 7 is WICKED LOUD!!! SO much louder than the quietone 1200 I had before. Is that normal? It was so loud that I actually converted back to the quiet one, even though the flow is considerably less. I've been debating switching over to an Eheim Compact 2000 or 3000, or possibly an Eheim 1260! I have no idea what to do! /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/crazy.gif

My magdrives have always been fairly quiet especially submerged under water. I did use an Eheim 1260 on the rimless 60 gallon tank I had and it was quiet with plenty of flow to divert to other items. I still have that Eheim 1260 if interested. Only 4-5 months old. I'd like to see some tank shots also if you have the new tank setup yet. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif

I'm using a mag 7 too. Pretty new to this but mine seems quiet. Only time it gets noisy is if its slid and is vibrating on the glass. Could that be the noise?

The bigger mag pumps come with a pad that sticks to bottom of it so doesn't rattle as much . I use the same thing on a mag 9 and helped a lot . The quiet one pumps have rubber feet to help them so that is main difference . I would try to find something to put under pump to help with notice first before getting rid of pump.

Well, it's a really loud hum, so it sounds like it's probably a vibration issue. I'll have to check it out, because I LOVE the flow that bad boy puts out!

Maybe I need to get a pad. I don't think mine has one but its still pretty quiet. But I picked mine up for $5 bucks used so I'm happy lol
