ProClear 150 skimmer

the tank i bought has a proclear 150 sump


I went to check for leaks and see if the pumps are up and running


the return pump was gummed up I cleaned and it is running just fine


the pump for the skimmer will not start up tried cleaning it and it started to smoke LOL


so that is toast


what pump can be used on this skimmer........would a rio 2500 work?


or any ideas what is the sump worth in trade without any pumps?

 

I say give it a shot and see

 

If you have to buy a new pump already I'd cut out the skimmer and buy a good quality skimmer to put in the sump.
