Pole on light covers

OK I'm getting ready to build some reflectors for my Ice cap HQI 250w bulbs and was debating on putting lens covers on them.
Does anyone have M/H with out lens covers?
Give some input please!!

 

I thought you had to have the lens covers to filter out the UV rays to keep from burning your corals...that's what everything that I've read has told me. Is that correct?

 

Doble ended lamps need the UV glass. The single ended Mh lamps have it built in. Not sure if you have seen this but here is a good link for some reflectors.

Yes, definitely need UV glass with double ended bulbs...
