I just set up a new Oceanic Biocube 29G - I have 25lbs of argonite live sand in the bottom and a 100W Ehiem Titantium heater. Everything else at this point is stock.
    On Order
Hydor Korilla Nano Circulation Pump 425GPH
15Lbs of Marco RocksWill be seed with 5-10lbs of real rock
Biocube Protein SkimmerI'm a little worried about the effectiveness of this unit after reading some review.
I'm wondering if anyone else has a unit similar to this and what they have done to Mod it out to be more efficient and biolocially effective for a reef. I do play on keeping soft corals and possible some of the less photosythentic soft corals such as Frogspawn. - For the long term use I would like to upgrade the hood to a DIY Cree LED Lighting System.
In the more immediate future I will be moding the filter and build a custom refugium/filter basket for the biocube similar to the In-Tanks Products.

I have a HOB Octopus BH-1000 and it works great on my JBJ 28g nano-cube HQI. I did not have to modify the tank at all for the Octopus and I could not be happier with it. Looks good and produces dark black skimmate. You would have to compare the two tanks and see if the Octopus would work on yours.

I have added a two little fishies media reactor for gfo and use a micron pad on top of tray where bioballs are. Other than that i used the nano tuners led kit.
I am very pleased with it. I am in the middle of silicone a piece of black pvc sheet to the bottom of another bio cube and transfering everything to that tank.

I am also looking at adding a dual media reactor and taking off the single chamber. It would be nice to use carbon i dont run a skimmer or fuge.

I have a 14g Biocube. I put chemipure elite in the first chamber and purigen in the 3rd chamber. The combo of the two keeps the water very clear and phosphates/nitrates low. I have some cheato in the second chamber w/some small LR and two submersible lights on 24/7. The combo of all these keeps my nitrates around 0-2ppm and water crystal clear, also have a decent pod population.
Never had a skimmer on it though, I read alot about nano's and most people say that if you keep up on weekly h2o changes you shouldn't need a skimmer. Maybe different for people who have large amounts of sps and other corals.

Have fun with the new tank!

Oh yeah, I also added the nanotuners 3.24 pc retro upgrade, adding another 24w bulb to my hood for a total of 72w.  Very happy with it.  My corals are loving it, especially the zoa's.

I have a 29BC with a Nanotuners 150watt HQI upgrade in the hood so everything appears stock. I used t run a fuge in the first chamber using some submersible 5 watt halogens but recently removed it and replaced it with a Sapphire Aquatics nano reactor running BRS bio-pellets. In the second chamber I am running a Sapphire Aquatics dual recirc. skimmer which is an awesome skimmer for it's size! The 3rd chamber has a MJ1200 for a return (which might be a tad much), a MJ utility pump that runs my inline heater and chiller, as well as the auto-top off float switches, which in my opinion are a must for a tank this size. For circulation I have a Vortec mp10.

I do 5 gallon water changes weekly and just add kalkwasser to my top-off. I have lots of LPS, SPS, and a clam. The tank always looks clean and all inhabitants are doing very well with this system.

Welcome to the Bio Cube club! Can't wait to see some pics!

It's great to hear about everything that you can do with those tanks. They really are a nice setup; especially when you can do like Jeremy has done and integrate all the higher end lighting and reactors, yet keep the stock look.

I got it from mediabaskets.com, but I just looked and they don't have them anymore. They only carry replacement bulbs and covers for the lights. Honestly they arent the color temp I wanted and the cheato doesn't seem to grow very fast but it does grow and the compact size of the submersible lights make it ok for me
Heres basically what I got, except mine has two lights.

    They grow cheato very well.
    Let me know.

Those are all some pretty cool mods. Has anybody had success growing some of the more delicate corals under LED Lights. I think i'm wanting to go this route but I'm hesitant about making the jump until I have heard from some fellow reefers first hand expirence's using LED's.
