I have to restart my apex network about every other day.  Is that normal?  If not, why do you suppose that is?

That is not normal really. You will have your occasional hiccups and what not, just like any computer, but my experience is that it has been really stable.

Check you firmware version I bet with a firmware update you will be ok.

My firmware for all modules show 'okay' when I view the screen. Even if it says 'okay' - should I still look to update firmware?

The module firmware doesn't really change that often. But the apex (main module) changes all the time.

So yeah I would update my firmware if I were you.

Great! Will do that today. Thanks guys! Just to confirm, when updating Firmware - it doesn't wipe out any coding correct?

Honestly, I have never done it. I last updated at MACNA and had curt with Neptune do it for me personally. I had really old firmware that could not be updated with a mac very easily.

Since then everything has worked perfectly so I have not updated.

I would consider PM'ing AJ. He has done the last update and can probably tell you what to watch out for, if anything.

But to answer your question it will not wipe out coding, if you play by the rules.

Make sure you backup everything using the SAVE function (I think?)...it will create a file with all your code that you have to load later once you update your firmware.

Save your outlets and any other programming you don't want to lose, in case it were to happen. I just updated my firmware and everything works fine, no need to redo any programming.

Make sure you backup, because I lost my codes when trying to update the firmware. I still have not been able to update the firmware for some reason. Neptune didn't believe me that I lost my programs, but they also haven't been able to give me a fix to update my firmware, so just been using the old firmware. I have never had problems with the apex other then trying to update the firmware. Oh and while doing the firmware update it reset my kalk stirrer to on and dumped all my kalk material into my tank, pH went to 10+ ,and looked like it was snowing in my tank, I caught the problem right away so had no damage to the corals.

In my experience it seems like if I'm doing a lot of tweeking through the web interface on my coding it tends to make the Apex very slow and eventually unresponsive until I restart it. The firmware updates haven't seemed to help with this... just a minor inconvenience every few weeks though not like what you're describing with restarting every couple days.

Well, I updated my firmware lastnight and after I got through my own system issues (after numerous restarts to clear out network issues - Windows no longer could find itself upon startup).....and all is well. I have same reports/programs/profiles and have not had to restart Apex...plus I can now view it while I am at work. Now I just need to get my wires spliced and hooked up correctly with my Skimmate Locker so I don't have to keep fretting over skimmer overflow (which has happened 3 times now). Thanks for the tips and advice!
