Does anyone have any knowledge about dry rock containing nitrates which will release nitrate when it becomes "live"?

Dry rock will go throw the same cycle as a new tank does. It just depends on the rock on how bad it is.
It would be a good idea to cure the rock before adding it to a established tank. It could possibly kill coral or fish that is already in the tank.

Yes, I know that. Maybe I should have been more clear: Does anyone know if cured (dry) rock holds nitrates ( from where it was originally collected) and can/will release nitrates for a year or longer?  I thought a while back someone had posted something about dry rock recently purchased was noted for containing unusually high nitrates./DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/unsure.gif
