I know in this hobby you get what you pay for. I know cheap bulbs and cheap skimmers are junk. How about heaters? I never read much on them? I know amazon ebay have 15 dollar ones. Are they junk too?

I tried a couple different heaters off ebay and ended up getting some betters ones later. Should have just bought them 1st. I went with eheim heaters...about as accurate as you can get and not real expensive. Just my two cents.

Heaters have the highest failure rate of any piece of aquarium hardware, and is one of the most important. If your light stops working, its not gonna kill your tank in a couple of hours.

If your heater sticks on, it will kill your tank before you know it.

My recommendation is to always buy 2 (or even 3) smaller heaters for your system. If one sticks on, or dies, it wont kill your tank before you realize there is a problem

it would be for the bio cube and prob with the one is i came home had it set on 78 and water was almost 90. Its on the lowest temp setting now and 82. There isnt much room for 2 in a bio cube. I have extra 300 watts for my big tanks but that would prob be too long and big right?

Plenty of room in a biocube for 2. Go with eheim jagers. Best heaters ive had. I also run 2 and my new setup ill be running 4 due to how many tanks ill have plumbed together. Dont cheap out on anything go all in /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif

I've also never had a problem with eheim jager heaters. Keep a constant, consistent temp and they're fairly easy to use! They're also fairly easy on the wallet as well.

I had freshwater fish for several years and the heater bit the dust on me twice during that time. Both times I was unable to get back in time before the tank cooled down ( in my house is 65f all winter )

Recently I started a saltwater tank and have two 100w in a 29gallon tank, one on each side. What I do is I set one of the heaters to a degree or two less than the other heater so that one of the heaters is mainly used as an extra resource if the tank starts to get too cold or what not. Typically I just see the one heater always on and the second one only come on once in awhile.

The heaters that I bought from Adams Aquatics, here in dsm, the 100watts are actually really nice heaters, they were 22$ each but they can hold a constant temp. Tried one of the 200watt heaters, same brand, and it could not hold the temp, it would flux the temp making me very upset.
