Hello all, Neptune system has release Beta web interface tonight Anyone going to try it out? I am thinking about it, but is the risk only software or Hardware too. I have never beta tested on an Apex.

I just updated and it seems like they basically just changed the GUI which I'm not really sure I like.

The "tiles" are pretty big and if you have a large amount of outlets they don't fit on the screen well. It does seem like you can customize them which might be sort of cool.

At first glimpse though, I'm not really that impressed but who knows it may grow on me as I figure out more of the functionality.

    Thanks,

I think it would be cool to use a small Android tablet and use it as the controllor Display on your tank. I think I will wait to see what happens in the next few days. I downloaded it, but have not the time to update Apex yet. Do you all update it with computer connected strait to Apex or just with your Hardware connection from your Router? I am connected to a hub then to my router should that matter?

Technically your should do it directly wired to your PC. Mine is hooked up to a router and I did it wirelessly from my laptop. If the firmware fails because of a weak wireless connection it would be possible to brick your Apex.

My Desktop is directly connected to the router and router is connected to hub then the Apex. It would be easy to do a direct connection in my case, because I have not mounted My Apex anyplace yet. I am still playing around with it. I have not found the time to dig deep into it yet. I just have a 7" Android tablet and I think it would be cool hooked up to the system and able to use the Web interface on it.

Let me know how you like it as you keep playing around with it. It looks like it is much better the the old interface.

So after using the new FW for a bit I actually kind of like it. Being able to move the "outlets" around on your screen is pretty handy.

My favorite thing about it though is being able to access your programming from the main page.

I think it looks pretty awesome. However, I'm going to give the beta testers a little while to find any big major bugs before I give it a try.

I think I am too. JB! If there was no risk to Apex I would try, because like I said I am not dependent yet. How ever as long as you do Update correctly I can't see where there would be a problem.

Just because the update took doesn't necessarily mean their won't be issues. One wrong character in the source code could cause a disastrous bug. Just not a good idea to test in a system that's highly dependent on it working right unless you can monitor it constantly.

Remember its a Beta Release Ok!

Here you go. Its on main page under support and then Firmware updates. Here is link: http://www.neptunesystems.com/beta-firmware-release/

I updated and it cool. My Android 7" don't really handle it very well, but its slow. I am going to check my Ipad2 next. update went smoth, but after my first problem with the brand new Apex I bought then had to send it back because it was not working right. It kind of made me itchy about updating. So fare so good..

I am using 4.2 BE12 which fixed a few things in BD12. I love it For the way you can customize the panels the way you want and for the web camera integration. I find myself watching my tanks through the cam allot more. Using a foscam camera.
