Well I bought 4 red legged hermit crabs not to long ago. At first they cleaned a bit of the algae off my rocks but now it seems they are slacking off. A lot of algae as returned and they are not cleaning up the mess lol

They can only do so much.

How often are you changing water? Are you using RO water?

    Any snails as well?

have you tested your phosphates? Maybe up your water change to 3 gallons a week until you get on top of it. Try to vacuum the rocks as much as you can while doing it.

Ya I try vacuuming the rocks. Siphon isn't strong enough to clean algae off. I don't have any way to test phosphates

Its not the clean up crew that's an issue. Like X said check phosphates. How about nitrates? Too much light? Bad bulbs?

Yes I believe my bulbs are getting bad. I can see a difference between them. (One not as blue as the other) they are probably over due

Ime cucs dont help much. Either you have nutrients or you dont have algae. If you have algae, address nutrients, dont add bioload lol. I like a few hermits and snails for fun, but never lean on them for algae issues. (Also, snails tend to harbor pyram snails, so this will be the last tank i put astreas in).
