I have noticed a few small starfish in my tank.  All very small, about 1/4" across.  They are brown in color.  I've heard that some starfish are not reef safe while others are.  Do I need to worry about these?

Do they look more like regular sea stars or possibly brittle stars?   Some stay very small.

I think they are fairly common and nothing to worry about. I have them in my tank and they have an odd number of legs, like 7, or 6, seems like they're all slightly different, when I do get a chance to see one.

Like regular starfish, not like brittle stars.

i have a ton of these in my reef. they just eat algae off of stuff and don't bother anything. really anything that eats algae but isn't big enough to knock stuff over is a great thing to have around.

Try sprinkling these on your salad for a bit of an exotic seafood dish.
