The new tank from Miracles for Grove & Platt Dental will be arriving sometime next week.  I have to go pick it up in Ankeny, and I think there will be manpower there to load it but will need help unloading it and then lifting it up on to the stand (which I am picking up tomorrow).
It is glass and will weigh approximately 350 pounds, and because of the space it goes into, it will not exactly be easy to maneuver into place, so I need all the help I can get.  I have a couple of the suction cup handles and will probably borrow a few more from Matt/ninja but mainly I will need strong arms.
If you can help, please let me know.  Right now it looks like Saturday after 2pm or anytime on Sunday.

I would be happy to help, depending on the time. Saturday after 2 would work well for me. Sundays before 5 are basically out, after 5 would be fine.

Just an update, the tank may or may not be here by this weekend after all. They will try to ship tomorrow and then hopefully it will arrive on Friday and possibly Saturday, but I don't know if I can pick it up Sat or not. So it might come on Monday. Will know more as the week goes on...

Well I just found out that it won't ship until tomorrow due to paperwork/customs issues that have to be resolved, which means it won't get here until after the weekend. I will probably now need help some afternoon or evening (preferably after 5pm) to help lift it. I will probably take an afternoon off and go load it up in the van, then will need help offloading and lifting on the stand. I'll have to look at the calendar and coordinate with work to figure out what days will work best and I'll get back to y'all...

The tank is in Chicago and is due for delivery on Monday, but I don't know when for sure. The freight company is pretty much open 24/7 so I would like to plan on Monday, with Wednesday evening as a backup.

So if you've posted or PMd me, please post your availability for Monday and Wednesday. For either day, I will plan on picking it up mid-afternoon and then will just need help after 5pm sometime.

Monday is a maybe, because I know I'm scheduled to go to NE Iowa for a job either Monday or Tuesday. If the job goes well, I'll be back by 5. If not so much, back by 8, or 11. I won't know until Monday which day. Wednesday is more likely, past 5 PM.

The tank is in Ankeny at the freight company!

Unfortunately, the home schedule is quite hectic this week and Wed/Thurs PM is out, Tues is a maybe.

What I decided is that I am going to split this up into 2 steps. I am planning on transporting the tank to the office and then I will just need help unloading it. I will plan the placement another day.

Work just might go nuts too so I may not be able to get tomorrow afternoon off, and the freight guys might not be able to help me load it on the van. Ugh.

    Will know more tomorrow morning.

FYI the freight company lists the weight at 545 lbs. That's 200 more than I expected, hopefully that's a crapload of crate material.

After some thought about liability etc about a bunch of guys moving the tank versus a moving company, and talking to many of them, I don't have much faith in the moving companies. Any of them I talked to didn't have suction cups and seemed to think 3 guys could place it but didn't seem to have a clue about doing this type of thing, and wouldn't let anyone else assist. So we're still going to do it ourselves, all help included.

However it won't fit in my van, so the owner of the office is going to pick it up in his truck on Friday afternoon, probably mid-afternoon, pending his home schedule (will know for sure tomorrow). Then we will bring it to the office where it will need to be removed form the crate before bringing it in ('cause it won't fit otherwise). I have 2 double-suction cups and 2 single ones, and I know that Matt N has 3 that I can borrow too. The owner will have a few friends there to help as well.

So, now, let me know your availability on Friday! The owner gets done at Noon and will probably pick up the tank by 2pm, back at the office by 3pm. Maybe sooner, the tank could be there as early as 1:30pm but I would think no earlier.

I can be there just let me know when. That xtra weight may be the crate as a norm pallet weighs between 45-55lbs and a chep around 75
