Check out this cool aquarium. You can stick your hands in there and touch the fish. I couldn't figure out why the water didn't drain out till I discovered I accidentally took a pic of the explanation. I took this at Under water world in Pattaya Thailand.http://www.underwaterworldpattaya.com/aboutus.aspx

Its built into a wall so you can't see the top but from the description that is how I assume it works.

I would think power has nothing to do with it.
if you dip a syphon in to a tank and plug the top you can lift it up without the water running out.
i think it works on that same idea.
    that would be my idea.

Fortunately there is a low prevalence of zoonotic diseases. However, maintaining healthy water chemistry despite frequent assault from hands covered in oil, grease, fuel, lotion, colognes, soap, etc, that's a different story. Frequent water changes I suppose? Which leads to the real preponderance of this magic.....how the hell do you do a water change? You know, practically speaking, I can see how you could do so, but not without spilling a lot of water.

This is cool. My only question is, why would you want to touch FISH?

Also... the tank is filled with goldfish which are a couple nickles to replace. If a fish dies I am sure it is not big loss to them. THAT, and goldfish are pretty dang hardy. You basically have to try and kill the things.

Nope, those are parrot cichlids, and a few african cichlids too. As far as losses, value and beauty are in the eye of the beholder, and seriously, you don't ever have the urge to want to touch fish?! That's why I took up sport fishing! But, really there's nothing that compares to holding a 46" muskie by the gills. Fish are gorgeous, well adapted, incredible animals, and thank god for their splendor!
