I'm only going to be able to make it to MACNA for one afternoon. Can i pay at the door? And will it cost more to do so?

Just an FYI for club members. Even if you only play to attend one day and want to go to the reception or banquet as well, it's still a better deal to just buy a full pass at the club member price.
The various prices are posted on the registration page: http://www.macna2011.com/Register.aspx

Just curious I guess, what is the club member price? It is a four hour drive, but may be interested in going if club membership gives a fair discount. Times are tough ya know!!

You will have to join to find out.  There is more to being a member then getting a discount on tickets.

So its $50 just to walk around the trade show? I could see $10 to $20 but not $50 just to walk around.....  Have we sold a lot of tickets?  We would prob get more of a turn out if the price to just go in was cheaper IMO

Dude.....seriously? You quote yourself? 50 dollars doesn't just buy you the ability to walk around the show, but also buys the opprotunity to get in on some serious raffle prizes, and the privilege to listen to and converse with internationally recognized speakers who are leaders in the field of marine research, and have decades of experience in the hobby. I guess the value depends on what your level of commitment and seriousness is in the hobby and exploration of ocean science.

yes guy I did.... I thought the $50 was only for the trade show and it was extra for the speakers didnt know it was the whole thing and I am very serious about the hobby but I can watch them speak on the internet for FREE (it called youtube and other sites) and I can order online for $30 shipping in a wysiwyg area....

Yes, some trade shows are cheaper, some are more expensive (a lot more expensive). By MACNA standards, our prices are very reasonable.

Lowering the price so that everyone and there dog will come for a day doesn't necessarily help us. The prices are driven by the basic economics of this show in particular (the costs/commitments that we as the organizers have to cover). The bottom line is that at this point in the game they are not up for debate.

And yes, you may be able to find some speakers on the interest for free, but that's not going to help you have a face to face conversation with them. One thing that makes MACNA awesome is the way the speakers interact with the attendees through out the entire show.

Seems like a bargain to me. I just think of how much money people who will be coming from all over the country will be spending just to get here and to stay and eat in Des Moines. The price of admission is the least of those people's considerations. Heck, it will cost me that much to drive to Des Moines and back.

Even if you just come in & walk around, there are still real costs to us. We have to pay MASNA a royalty for every person through the door, not to mention laynards, totes, tickets, and so on. The $50 doesnt just go into our pockets as free cash flow.
