I heard about this camera a few months back.  Now you can get one.  This is absolutely amazing.  This camera doesn't take a picture really, it records the entire "light field", and then the digital information it records can be manipulated after the fact, allowing the user to refocus to any point in the field.  What this means is that you can just snap away and create the picture afterwards.
I heard about it and it sounded really interesting, but like they say...a picture is worth a thousand words.  And the images produced by this camera are nothing short of stunning, and these are just the first few.  This camera is going to fundamentally change photograph and will likely generate an entire new genre of art, marketing, you name it.
Oh yeah, and I really want one.

Oh my God you have to look at this. I didn't realize it when I was on their website, but with all the sample pics they have up, after they load you can click anywhere on the image and re-focus it to that point.

I just dropped a load in my pants and now I want this camera more than ever. For the first time in my life, I wish I had a Mac just so I could justify buying this right now.

oooops.....missed that when you updated the post about being able to do it on their site as well.
The camera is definitely cool and hopefully they get it working with windows soon even though I feel Macs are superior when dealing with editing images/video.

No you need a mac to download and process the images from the camera. They are making the windows software package right now.

I've followed this tech for a little bit, and what they are doing (reducing the initial 'idea' which involved an entire room full of sensors) to a small camera box is pretty amazing. I'm torn between buying one to have one, and support the developer to make a better version (mainly, higher res sensor) or to just wait in hope others buy enough for a gen-2 to come out. I think reef-photography is a perfect niche for them, and I would be interested in a submersible case for scuba.
