Advice? LPS corals with height?

    Hey all

Getting ready to start filling my LPS tank.

I am looking for recommendations for some LPS corals that give some height instead of just spreading horizontally.

I have a frogspawn and a branching duncan, but need some other ideas to give me some vertical fill space.

Trumpet and a flower pot (goniopora) come to mind. I can't think of anything that can compare to the height of a branching SPS though.

My hammer grew about as tall as it did around, about soccer ball size.

euphyllia are really the only ones that I can think of that get much for height.

Euphyllia and I have some Lobos that are 6" tall.

Same here. Euphyllia. Maybe look into a tonga branch and have something like a cyphestrea or leptoseris or some other entrusting lps to cover the branch.

Maybe cheating a bit but you could try cephastrea on a dead sps skeleton and let it cover it. Had that accidently happen with a dead frag and was a cool look.

That actually kind of sounds cool Dave.

I may have to mix in some softies and gorgonians

Was going to suggest eco-gorgonians for height.

I had a really cool corky finger gorg, I am not sure who ended up with it, but it was tall and a pretty purple with great movement and decent mass compared to a few other gorgs I had. I think got from reef cleaners of all places. I can't remember well but I am pretty sure it was well over 12" tall and had several branches around 2" thick. Lets see if I can find a pic

I had a lot of success with photosynthetic gorgs and really like them, kept at least 4 species that did great. I will say the thinner ones I think need crazy flow to do well though which might be at odds with some LPS. I found if you scrape tissue off the base exposing the "skeleton" so can really glue them well to rock is the only way I could secure them in the really high flow they liked.

Those are really cool. I think it will look nice with those at the top, with most of the LPS on the bottom

I have a piece of Tonga with a green torch on the tip of a branch and it looks pretty cool.
