Just wanted to toss this up, pretty decent tanks. I do believe this will be my goto in the future. Absolutely love the footprint and the fact I'll never get my full arm wet.. Hoping to get a few more since I now have a gigantic basement.. :)
Oh, but the downside is, it's just a little too shallow for a Tunze 9004. Thought about cutting it, but I have some others I can use.

Who's a good manufacturer for a tank like that?
Or is low boy the manufacturer?
    I love the low profile

Zoomed is the company that sells the "lowboy" however I tried ordering one of them and it came with terrible seals, returned and ordered another with even worse seals. Deep blue is an actual tank company that sells a shallow reef tank with the same footprint as the lowboy but with a few different heights. Pets playhouse has a couple of deep blues, they are well made but significantly more expensive than zoomeds low boy

On smaller tanks like that it is cheaper to just order a manufactured tank, I could have kept the lowboy I ordered and resealed it myself but if I am paying for a spanking new tank it better be near perfect. If you want to order a custom tank it takes a lot of time and even more money, I've found. The lowboy is at a pretty good price ($100-120) so if you don't mind spending the time to make a proper seal it could be worth it, you could even get lucky and get a well sealed tank. Murphy's Law is very prevalent in this hobby and I am no exception to that rule, as I continue to learn.

I was even thinking of tearing apart my 55 that I have, cut the front or back panel to fit the opening at the top and just turning it sideways. it'd be about the same footprint as the lowboy and you can pick up a used 55 for almost nothing anymore.

I love tanks like that. My 2 sump, refugiums look like that.

Super easy to DIY yourself out of acrylic, the short walls allow you more room for error

Well **** Chief, now ya got me wondering lol.... I didn't find anything wrong with the seals though and obviously it holds water. They have them at aquatic Environments in Davenport for 130. Tried to find em online for delivery to no avail.. And I've actually heard horrible things about the seals on deep blues.. That's funny. Hehe

My low boy is holding water just fine. Ray and Jen have had one up for about a year no problems.

And if your worried. For $10 in silicone, just reseal it. Price on these is about $100. Good deal in my opinion.

And I have a gyre 150 blasting flow across the tank. So we will see how it holds up.

You are absolutely right, an extra $10 in silicone is well worth it and maybe I shouldn't be so picky but it looked like little effort was put in to sealing the tank I ordered. It may have held water (although I didn't check) but it seemed to be a matter of time before it would inevitably spring a leak. The silicone was just laid down on the corners and not smoothed out whatsoever and it was very very messy on the bottom pane. resealing takes a bunch of time to do it correctly and that is why I just returned it altogether. Like I said: Murphy's law would have said that tank will leak eventually and cause a lot of problems. Bronson was selling a perfectly good one for $100 and I should have snagged it but oh well. They are still very cheap for a brand new tank, those deep blues are double the cost of the lowboy

Well glass tanks only have a +/- 10 yr lifespan anyways... I always plan around the tanks leaking eventually, it's a given.
Now if we could mold tanks into a 1-piece item that would make all the difference. That was one appealing thing about acrylics but at the low price point of these, it's easy enough to just switch tanks after a couple years. Don't have to worry about anything then and it has the bonus of preventing old tank syndrome. Of course even then since you're dealing with new tanks there's always the risk of statistics dictating you'll eventually get a bad tank. Even murphy's law is bound by the law of probability or averages. If we take murphy's law at face-value, nobody should go outside ever, but then they have to worry about the indoors too! Hehe

Or you can take a fatboy 150 thats blown out the back. Lay it down on the front. Use the glass from the blown out back. Hope that you still got enough to cut. And cover up what was the top is now the back. Now its roughly 100g. Heres a video of mine i did this too. Its been many different tanks in the past. But now i think its just going to be my oscar 5 different turtles and a pleco.
