Hey Travis not to ruin your thread or talk crap isn't the reason you got rid of the bio was because of the issue it was too cold to run a sump? This would give you the same issue again right?

This stand is sided. Lol no drafts hopefully. Ill have insulation board on the inside for extra protection. Im hoping planning this one out wont result in a repeat of my last attempt for a sump'd tank. Lol

    nickbuol Here fishy, fishy, fishy...

How do you know that the bottom isn't tempered glass?

I've watched videos, and have most of the tools to do it, but I would be nervious about drilling glass.

As far as I know all aquariums 40b and less aren't tempered. Not sure about the bottom on the 20l. I know the back and sides aren't

I think they usually drill a hole in back side of tank.Put a bulkhead in and plumb it.

Most bottoms are tempered on these smaller tank. I've always drilled through the back glass.

Where you getting 40 from? Last few times I've had ACC drill my tanks it was 10 per hole. so 20 bucks would do ya.

Last I knew hung was $18/hole plus gas. Or $10/hole plus a lot of gas. Lol

I would think the bottom is tempered. I think most tanks are. The sides probably aren't.

Here's a thread that shows how to tell:

If you aren't comfortable doing it, then it's worth paying Hung to do it for you right? $20 is worth peace of mind. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif

If you are from Cedar Rapids, ACC is not all that far from you.... Plus it's worth the trip.... It will be hard to compete with $10 a hole... I would consider that option if getting the tank drilled is important to you..
