LOOKING FOR PROTEIN SKIMMER FOR 180 GAL TANK

    I am in need of a protein skimmer for and 180 gal tank.  I really would like to get a Octopus Inline skimmer.  But I would use anything that is big enough so I can get started cycling water.

    you dont need a skimmer to cycle the water

    i think skimmers are actually useless unless there is waste (protein) in the water...

    but, idk. maybe im wrong.

    I would probably wait to start skimming after the cycle as it would probably slow the cycle down. I know I saw a couple of decent skimmers on RC too.. I know one of them was an ASM G2 for 150 shipped. There is usually a decent skimmer in the for sale forum.

    I don't think an ASM G-2 would be big enough for a 180 gal. tank. I'd be looking into some of the bigger Octo skimmers or depending on your budget there are some others that are really nice. What kind of budget are you looking at and are you wanting an insump or external?

    Nykademus, thanks for the reply. I think the MTC HSA 250 SKIMMER will work great. I hope that it is still there.
