I'm temporarily switching from using kalkwasser to the 2 part suppliment.  I've got plenty of the BRS calcium component, but would like to get 1-2 cups of the Alk component to make a fresh batch.
I recently purchased the Salifert Alk test kit - and found that my alk was way low.  Been having a difficult time getting it up and maintaining it above 8.0.  So I stopped using the kalkwasser and went back to my 2 part suppliment.  I made a fresh solution of the Calcium component, but don't have any of the Alk component.  So, I'm using the newly mixed calcium component with my alk from a couple years ago.  I'm needing 120ml of alk and only 60 ml of ca suppliment to maintain.  So I'm wondering if my alk component has lost its potency (not supposed to, but I don't have any other logic for why I need twice as much alk as ca suppliment ????).
So any one have some Alk component?  Only need 1-2 cups.
    Des Moines area.

Alk and Ca are used in equal portions by corals. As long as you started out balanced they should be dosed the same. Alk could precipitate if it gets to high but so can Ca. How do your corals look? If they look good I wouldn't chase what a test kit is telling you. Natural seawater has a Alk of 7- 8 dkh and if your pH is fine I won't worry about it at that level.

Its always been my understanding that Alk & Ca are used in equal portions.  That's why I've had a hard time understanding why I seem to be getting different results.  I also agree with your statement about 'chasing' what a test kit is telling you.  I try not to get too hung up on the exact readings since they can vary significantly with our tests kits.
The reason I'm pursuing this more though is that my Ca and Alk had been stable for a long time.  I was dosing kalkwasser (2tsp/gallon).  Then in January I sold my two very large colonies of green birdnest and pink poccilapora.  So I cut my kalk dosing to 1tsp/gallon.  Again readings appeared stable.  Now just recently I purchased the Salifert Alk test kit (previously only used API Alk test kit).  With the API test kit I was getting reading that I thought were 8-9.  With the Salifert kit, my reading was 4.8-5.2.  Corals were all fine - except for the cyphastrea I just lost to RTN.  I raised the kalk dosing back up to 2tsp/gallon - (after dosing with BRS 2 part (slowly) to bring the Alk and CA up) - but it hasn't been enough to keep my levels up - they kept dropping back to Alk 7 and Ca - 375-380.  So I've stopped dosing the kalk and am only dosing with 2 part - trying to figure out what my real need is.  And the thing is - since I've raised the ALk - my LPS have just really expanded - my hammer and candy cane have especially expanded considerably.  So I think that I want to try to keep the readings up higher.
So - its starting to look like my need may be more like 120-130 ml Alk & CA / day.  Too much for the kalkwasser.  Might have to go back to dosing 2 part - and purchasing dosing pumps.  Any thoughts anyone??????

I just got a big jug of the alk component, dry sodium bicarbonate. I have ben fighting the exact same issue for a couple months now. All other params just fine but cannot for the life of me get the alk above 7, so I'm going to try doubling up on the alk half and cut back on kalk. I can spare some if you need it. Let me know
